Our History

Who Were the Bereans?

In Acts 17, the apostle Paul faced strong opposition as he brought the Gospel into Macedonia. He and Silas were beaten, imprisoned, and chased from city to city.

Much of the resistance came from loyalty to unbiblical traditions. However, in Berea, the people eagerly received the message. They examined the Scriptures and recognized Christ as their fulfillment.

Our name serves as a reminder that we are accountable to Scripture alone. The Bible is the litmus test for life and experience.

In 1983, our church was founded by a group of believers eager to search the Scriptures. Starting in a storefront in Milford, we saw the Lord's provision of a location on Highway 14 that still houses us to this day.

Since then, we've planted three churches: Hope Bible Church in Seaford, DE, Kent Bible Church in Viola, DE, as well as Iglesia BĂblica Berea (a Spanish Church that meets in our facility).

Since our inception, our commitment has been the same: to be a people of the Book.
