Berean Community Church offers to the community a ministry of counseling. The counseling is based upon the holy Scriptures and is guided by the premises, precepts, promises, and prescriptions of God's Word. We offer a loving approach to life's difficulties with the clarity of God's Word in a confidential setting.

We address all the common problems that human beings are troubled about: Anxiety, anger, abuse, marriage, parenting, work related conflict, coping with serious or terminal illnesses and addictions. The God of all creation stands ready to indwell, empower, assist and change all who come to Him through His Word. We do not charge but we do accept minimal donations from those who can give.

Our ministry works closely with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors.

A Picture of Counseling from the Bible

Biblical counseling gives hope. A person with no hope feels like they have no reason to live. A person with no hope has no reason to expect change. In contrast to that miserable picture, the Bible mentions hope 140 times. It is exciting to know that God’s Word is our source of true hope in this passing world (Eph. 1:18, Col. 1:27).

I. Biblical counseling discloses the ultimate meaning of life

Many wander aimlessly through this world convinced life has no meaning. Others are convinced life does have meaning but that we can’t find it. Some believe they have found it but are devastated when their belief fails them. However, God declares that ultimate significance is found in a life that lives to the praise of His glory (Eph. 1:12). It enables us to “bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2). Each of us has burdens and griefs that, at times, seem unbearable. Biblical counseling brings the afflicted soul under the soothing balm of sacred Scripture so that he or she might live in the light of God's pleasure.

II. Biblical counseling confronts sin with truth

The Bible says to “speak the truth in love” for the purpose of edification (Eph. 4:15). Sin destroys marriages, divides homes, enslaves in lust and stomps out hope leaving us in misery and despair. Until sin is dealt with there is no hope for change. Therefore, the biblical counselor will shine the floodlight of God’s Word into your heart and expose your sins—in love. Since God’s Word sees every thought and intent of our heart, success is a guarantee if you but surrender to God’s wise direction (Heb. 4:12).

III. Biblical counseling encourages

The Bible says “to stir up one another to love and good works” (Hebrews 10:24). Counseling is not just for “serious” problems. It is for anyone who has become “weary in well doing.” Satan is the ultimate ‘discourager’ and will constantly seek to drive you into depression and defeat. He wants to destroy you. God wants to restore you. Only living by God’s Word will enable you to rise above the tempest. It is exciting to see God’s Word break substance abuse, restore marriages, restore order in the home, restore relationships, comfort the grieving, lead blind wanderers to Christ, make sense of a ravaged past, revive the suicidal, bring forgiveness to the hateful, bring meaning to the meaningless, etc.

Berean Community Church provides you with equipped counselors who bring God’s truth to your crisis.
We are associated with the Association of Certified Biblical Counseling (ACBC) which passionately affirms that “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence” (II Pet. 1:3).
